IB CAREER-RELATED PROGRAMME (IBCP)

IB CAREER-RELATED PROGRAMME(IBCP)

The IB Career-Related Programme(IBCP) is a unique framework of international education that incorporates the vision and educational principles of the IB into a specialized program, designed specifically for students, who are eager to engage in career-related learning. It aims to equip students with the necessary skills, qualifications, and attitudes to thrive in their chosen careers.

What sets IB Career related programme apart is its comprehensive curriculum, which seamlessly combines academic studies with practical learning experiences tailored to the students’ areas of interest. This approach allows our students to explore their passions while gaining the knowledge and understanding required to excel in further studies and the workplace.

By offering the IBCP, we provide our senior students with an extraordinary opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of their chosen career fields. Alongside this, they acquire the essential skills, qualifications, and attitudes that are vital for success in their respective industries.

Our IB CP not only nurtures the intellectual growth of our students but also fosters their personal and professional development. We are committed to preparing them to be confident, adaptable, and well-rounded individuals who are ready to take on the challenges of the future.

What sets the IBCP curriculum apart is its comprehensive framework, which combines internationally recognized courses from the IB Diploma Programme (DP) with a specially designed CP core and an approved career-related study(CRS). This three-part framework provides students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for their chosen career path.

In IBCP students have the opportunity to study two to four Diploma Programme courses alongside their career-related studies(CRS), which at Lancers International are being offered by SUMAS and WACP. The four core components of the IBCP include personal and professional skills development, community and service engagement, language development, and a reflective project. By focusing on these aspects, we aim to provide our students with a comprehensive education that prepares them for future challenges and opportunities.

Career Related study (CRS)

At Lancers International School, students have the option of pursuing either Business & Sustainability (offered by SUMAS) or Artificial Intelligence (Offered by WACP).

The “Business & Sustainability” programme designed by the “Sustainability Management School” in Switzerland, is designed for focused students, who have a clear idea about their career path. Students will pursue career-related education at Lancers in which they will work on practical projects guided by industry professionals and SUMAS professors. This study program is relevant for all students who are interested in responsible management applicable in different fields like Manufacturing, Finance, Fashion, Nature Conservation, Tourism etc.

The World Academy of Career Programme (WACP) offers a detailed curriculum for the CRS in Artificial Intelligence. The course focuses on theories, models and practical case studies to manage the information and market intelligence side of an organization. Hence providing a broad overview of the industry and is designed to develop skills and knowledge sufficient to allow participants to play a significant role in data analytics, machine learning, natural language processing and information-based decision making.

IBCP CORE:

In the CP curriculum, there are four main components that make up the core. These components include Personal and Professional Skills (PPS), Service Learning (SL), Language Development (LD), and Reflective Project (RP). Each of these components plays a vital role in developing students’ transferable skills such as Research, Communication, Ethics, Personal Inquiry, and Social skills.Out of these four core elements, three of them, namely PPS, LD, and SL, are internally marked through portfolios. This allows students to showcase their progress and growth in these areas. On the other hand, the Reflective Project is marked internally and then externally moderated by the IB. This ensures consistency and fairness in the assessment process.

The IBCP core indeed is a combination of academic and practical learning that ensures that students acquire a diverse skill set that will serve them well in their future endeavors.

Service Learning

The overall purpose of service learning is to guide our students towards becoming active contributors to society. By providing them with opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills, we aim to empower them to make a tangible difference in the lives of others and in the world around them.Through engaging in service learning, students have the chance to enhance their decision-making and problem-solving abilities, while also fostering initiative, responsibility, and accountability for their actions. By actively participating in service projects, students are able to positively impact society by improving the lives of individuals or assisting in the preservation of our environment.

Personal and Professional Skills

The primary objective of this Core component is to help you develop attitudes, abilities, and approaches that will be beneficial in both personal and professional lives of the students. By the end of this course, students will have acquired a set of transferable skills that can be applied to a wide range of situations. These include responsibility, perseverance, resilience, self-esteem, and the ability to maintain academic and professional integrity.

Reflective Project

The reflective project is a comprehensive body of work that IBCP students will be working on over an extended period. It serves as an opportunity for students to delve deeply into a particular topic related to their career studies(CRS). Through this project, they will identify, analyze, critically discuss, and evaluate an ethical issue that arises within their chosen field.

The purpose of this core element is to encourage students to engage in high-level research, develop their writing and communication skills, and foster intellectual discovery and creativity. It is an essential component of students’ academic experience, allowing you to showcase their understanding and expertise in your chosen area of study.

Language Development

In line with the International Baccalaureate’s concept of an international education, the ability to communicate in multiple languages is deemed essential. This proficiency in various languages enables students to actively participate in an increasingly interconnected world. By embracing multilingualism, students are equipped with the skills necessary to engage in global conversations, effectively communicate across cultures, and broaden their overall perspectives.

Language development plays an instrumental role in various fields, including data analytics, machine learning, natural language processing, and information-based decision making. By utilizing language development as a foundation, students can navigate the complexities of these fields and contribute meaningfully to their respective Career fields..
