School Life
Sports
Sports is an essential component to the fabric of education. It’s a useful tool to build physical strength, understand what it’s like to work in a team, and most importantly, have fun. The benefits of sports in school are well documented. Studies have shown that students who engage in sports have better grades and are more likely to stay in school.
But there’s another, often overlooked benefit of sports: the social and emotional skills that students learn. Sports can teach kids how to handle disappointment, work hard, and be resilient. They can also help kids develop a positive sense of self-esteem and learn how to be part of a community.
By taking part in competitive games such as basketball, football, cricket, squash, swimming, taekwondo, gymnastics, skating, boxing, shooting and tennis, students learn to work in teams and be more disciplined.
