Art

The arts are a defining feature of cultural identity. The arts program at Lancers International School provides students with an insight into both art history and contemporary art and enables them to share their experiences, ideas, and preoccupations using diverse art forms.

The Cambridge IGCSE Art and Design course engages students in the design process and enables them to generate ideas and then develop them into personal responses. Students build personal portfolios which record their observations, explore a variety of art-making media and techniques and present their artistic intentions using visual language.

The IB Visual Arts course stimulates young imaginations, challenges perceptions, and develops creative and analytical skills. It draws on the inquiry-action-reflection cycle and includes aspects where students investigate the practice of other artists, develop their own ideas by visualising possible outcomes, and evaluate the artworks created. A Visual Arts student not only develops diverse artistic skills but also develops communication, creative thinking, and self-management skills. Students engage with a thought-provoking course that develops divergent thinking while progressing towards technical proficiency as art-makers.

With the strong foundation skills built with the well-curated art programs, Lancerians have reached top art universities like the Rhode Island School of Design, University of Arts London, University of Edinburgh, Lancaster University, School of the Art Institute Chicago, and many more.

Lancerians showcase their creative talents during the annual Visual Arts Exhibition. Thisprovides them an opportunity to celebrate their learning, build self-confidence and learn different ways to express and present themselves. The exhibition not only provides a platform to reflect on the artist, artwork, and audience relationship but also instills asense of accomplishment and achievement in our students.

Our aim with the arts program is to open up a space to access during times of uncertainty and celebration.
